Taking a dog into Zion National Park

On one trail only. The Pa'rus Trail is the sole trail in Zion that allows pets; every other trail, the wilderness and the shuttle buses do not. Service animals — dogs individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability — may accompany their owner to all park locations.

What Zion National Park actually requires

  • The Pa'rus Trail, which begins at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center, is the only trail in the park that allows pets.
  • Pets must be restrained on a leash no longer than six feet, and retractable leashes that extend further than six feet are not allowed.
  • Pets are not permitted on any other trail, in wilderness areas, on the shuttle buses, or in public buildings.
  • Boarding kennels are available in Hurricane, St. George, Kanab and Cedar City, as well as in Rockville.
