Taking a dog into Rocky Mountain National Park

Roads and campgrounds only. Rocky Mountain National Park prohibits pets on all of its trails, on the tundra and in meadows. Service animals individually trained to perform specific tasks for a person with a disability are allowed in the park. Emotional support and therapy animals are not service animals under the ADA and may not use visitor centers, trails or other non-motorized areas.

What Rocky Mountain National Park actually requires

  • Leashed pets may accompany you along established roads and in parking areas.
  • Leashed pets are also allowed in established campgrounds and picnic areas.
  • Pets must be kept on leashes no longer than six feet.
  • Pets are prohibited on all park trails, on the tundra and in meadows.
  • Pets are not allowed in any park visitor center.
