Know the warning signs of heatstroke, because they escalate fast: heavy frantic panting, bright red gums, drooling, unsteadiness, vomiting. It is a genuine emergency — move the dog somewhere cool, wet it with cool (not ice-cold) water, and get to a vet immediately.
